New GeForce 9800 GX2 Pictures Revealed

Tom's Hardware(Chinese)has got some recent and much of the official pictures of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce 9800 GX2 dual-GPU graphics card.

First Review of G92 Core 8800GS

According to NVIDIA, G92 core 8800GS just aims to the OEM market. But it is said that the AICs have their own plans. GeForce 8800GS 384MB will be $149-179 and it will replace GeForce 8600GTS. GeForce 8800GS built in 6 groups and 96 Streaming Processors in total, each group has 8 Texture Filtering Unit and 8 Texture Addressing Unit, the stepping reduced to 12 from 16. It matched 192bit memory controller and 384MB memory, so its HDR and FSAA will not as good as GeForce 8800GT.

Below is the 3DMark05, 06 test. The platform was not so good and the GPU-Z seems cannot display its correct clocks for now. Just for reference.

Nvidia's G100 To Roll In March

According to current plans, Nvidia plans to introduce its Geforce 9 series high end part codenamed G100 around march 2008.

We don’t know many details, but we do know that the chip should end up faster than two G92 D8E dual PCB card which is scheduled for launch in late January.

It will be on time to launch with G96 which is a mainstream part.

Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB Launches On Dec 11,2007

Nvidia will launch its Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB card by midday Central European time on December 11. Nvidia simply likes to launch stuff on Tuesday, as it gives the PR bosses some time to recover from the weekend.

The new card is based on a G92 chip with eight clusters enabled and 128 Shader units. The reference card works at 650MHz core, 1650MHz Shader clock and 1940MHz DDR3 memory clock.

The card comes with a dual slot cooler and it is much quieter than the single slot G92 based cards. It will end up a bit faster than G92-based 8800 GT, but this will heavily depend on the resolution.

We've seen some listed for around €330, which sounds quite attractive, but it will also be interesting to see how this card is doing versus G92 based 8800 GT at 700MHz clock.

ATI Radeon HD 3800 For Mobile

FUDZilla heard mobile versions of ATI's new Radeon HD 3850 and 3870 are expected soon:

Just as Nvidia is planning a mobile G92 version of the Geforce 8800 GT, branded as the 8800M GTX, ATI will introduce its RV670 mobile chip. ATI has a big advantage, as it dissipates less than 80W, at least for the desktop part, but with some optimization and a more modest clock, we might be getting a great mobile GPU at a great price/performance ratio.

Traditionally AMD has to wait for OEMs to change their production cycle and as soon as this happens (in other words, when one of the big OEMs or ODMs (Originl Design Manufacturers)) releases a new machine powered with mobile RV670, AMD will introduce this part.
