With one touch of a button, the elegant Nokia 6600 fold smoothly opens to reveal a stunningly bright 2.13'' OLED screen displaying up to 16 million colors. With its seamless design, the signature "smooth back" of the Nokia 6600 fold creates a comfortable contour when open, and remains subtle and compact when closed. The high-gloss surface of the Nokia 6600 fold comes to life when tapped twice to "wake up" the hidden outer display that reveals time, incoming messages, missed calls and more. A double tap on the Nokia 6600 fold also snoozes alerts and silences or rejects incoming phone calls.
With a set of contemporary mobile features that belie its compact size, the Nokia 6600 fold is proof positive that beauty can be far more than skin deep. 3G technology allows for fast and easy sharing of pictures and videos snapped with the integrated 2 megapixel camera with double LED flash or swift access to Internet services such as Yahoo! Go or Flickr.
It will be available in Q3 2008 for 275EUR excluding taxes and subsidies.

CES 2008:Hands on With Moto Z10 and ROKR E8
Gizmodo published some pictures and specifications of the much hyped Motorola's new phones ,Z10 and Rokr E8.They are innovative but not so much to be considered breakthrough technologies.
ROKR E8
The rokr E8 is the next gen of Moto's music player phone line. It has a smooth surface, no visible keys. ModeShift / morphing turns the device from phone to music player to camera. They've built in haptic feedback for tactile response when keys are pressed, and a navigation wheel above the touch pad. They also threw in an FM radio, 2GB of internal memory, expandable via MicroSD. USB 2.0 for fast song transfer. It's a Quad Band GPRS/EDGE phone.
Moto Z10
This one is a kick slider multimedia phone, with built-in video editing tools. The 2.2-inch QVGA screen displays video at 30fps, and in 16 million colors. External storage for up to 32GB, when it becomes available. So 8GB for now. 3.2 megapixel camera, which launches in 1.5 seconds-they made a big deal of this although the iPhone doesn't seem to take any longer to get into camera mode. It's3.5G HSDPA, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, for all that wireless video you're going to be uploading.

Motorola To Launch Next Gen Linux Based Handsets In 2Q 2008
Motorola plans to launch its next-generation Linux-based "Ming" handsets in the second quarter of 2008, with the hand input intelligence handsets to be available in both high-end and entry-level versions, according to market sources. Previously, the Ming was released only in a high-end version.
While Motorola's R&D center in Beijing will continue to handle the development of the high-end version of the new Ming handsets, the US vendor will outsource the production of the new entry-level Ming handsets to the Taiwan-based Inventec Group, according to the sources, who also noted that the new Ming handsets will continue to support the 2.5G standard.
Motorola on December 17 launched its high-end 3.5G RAZR V9 in Taiwan, and the company plans to introduce in Taiwan a Symbian-based ROKR Z8, Windows Mobile-based Q9 and three entry-level models, including the W360 and W213, before the end of this year, according to Bill Chen, general manager of of mobile device business at Motorola Taiwan.
Handsets supporting the 3G standard will account for 50% of all handsets sold in Taiwan in 2008, Chen projected.

Torrents To Go Mobile
ZDNet predicts one of the new opensource trends in 2008 will be mobile torrents.
Mobile implementations of the BitTorrent protocol are nearly certain to be part of whatever Google Android comes up with, and if not someone will have one for the open platform straightaway.
WinTorrent animated gif fileAlready a Windows Torrent product is on Version 2.0, and given the video capability of the iPhone it’s clear Apple is not going to let this opportunity pass by. A Symbian Torrent program is on Version 1.3.
Torrent Reactor is listing a bunch of mobile Torrent files, not just the usual suspects of audio and video but games as well. MoveDigital has been offering metered Torrents since last year.

ATI Radeon HD 3800 For Mobile
FUDZilla heard mobile versions of ATI's new Radeon HD 3850 and 3870 are expected soon:
Just as Nvidia is planning a mobile G92 version of the Geforce 8800 GT, branded as the 8800M GTX, ATI will introduce its RV670 mobile chip. ATI has a big advantage, as it dissipates less than 80W, at least for the desktop part, but with some optimization and a more modest clock, we might be getting a great mobile GPU at a great price/performance ratio.Traditionally AMD has to wait for OEMs to change their production cycle and as soon as this happens (in other words, when one of the big OEMs or ODMs (Originl Design Manufacturers)) releases a new machine powered with mobile RV670, AMD will introduce this part. Cell Makers Agree on a Single Charging Plug
Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG, and Nokia have agreed to use micro USB as a charging-plug standard for phones. Your days of buying a bagful of accessories every time you switch phones have come to an end. Well, not quite. You will still have to toss out all your mini USB chargers, as this decision in truth indicates a rejection of that budding de facto standard. Yep, all the carriers and accessories makers will have one last chance to profit before the standard is in place.

LG Viewty Mobile Phone Boasts A 5.1 Megapixel Camera
What else we need ??

LG have announced the LG Veiwty also known as the LG KU990. The LG Veiwty is a touch screen mobile phone with a screen similar to the currently available LG Prada and the soon to be released iPhone. The main selling point of the LG Veiwty is its 5.1 mega pixel camera.
Samsung recently released the G600 with a 5 mega pixel camera, the G600 also comes equipt with its own photo editor which allows you to alter your pictures on your mobile phone. Now LG have fought back with the Veiwty which comes with a 5.1 megapixel camera with flash, electronic image stabilisation, single click uploading to YouTube and Photo editing.
Not only does the LG Viewty have a better camera spec than the Samsung G600’s, but it also boasts a camera lens made by Schneider Kreuznach who are the people who make lenses for Kodak!
Another impressive but a little unnecessary feature is the Veiwtys video recorder. Videos are captured at up to 120 frames per second. This is twice as fast as the frame rate of a HDTV!
The full specification of the KU990 have not yet been released, but it is thought to be available in Q4 2007.

3 Samsung Phones In Guinness World Records
The 2008 edition of the Guinness World Records book will feature three records for Samsung cell phones.
The SGH-U100 is the World's thinnest cell phone at 5.9mm, the SCH-B600 has the highest photo resolution in a cell phone at 10MP and the SGH-Z370 is the world's thinnest 3G cell phone at 8.4mm. However, with the speed that these records change, it seems like the achievement isn't just in making these phones, but releasing them to coincide with the compiling of the next book. iPhone Unlocked: AT&T Loses iPhone Exclusivity
It's high noon, Apple and AT&T -- we really hate to break it to you, but the jig is up. Last night the impossible was made possible, right in front of our very eyes we witnessed a full SIM unlock of our iPhone with a small piece of software. It's all over, guys.
The complete story is with engadget.
The iPhoneSIMfree.com team called us up to prove their claim that they cracked Apple's iPhone SIM lock system, and prove it they did. (No, we don't have a copy of the unlock software, so don't even ask us, ok?) The six-man team has been working non-stop since launch day, and they're officially the first to break Apple's SIM locks on the iPhone with software. It's done. Seriously. They wouldn't tell us when and how they would release it to the public, but you can certainly bet that they'll try to make a buck on their solution (and rightly so). We can hardly believe the iPhone's finally been cracked. No, scratch that -- we just can't believe it took this long.
So great news for all those Indians who want to use iPhone on their favourite mobile network.

India Overtakes USA To Become Nokia's Second Largest Market !
Mobile phone maker Nokia says India has overtaken the US to become its second largest market in terms of sales.
Chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo made the comment on a visit to India to meet officials, suppliers and clients.
Nokia had expected India to overtake the US as its second biggest sales market after China by 2010.
Nokia's focus has shifted in recent years to fast-growing emerging markets such as India, which had a total of 118 million mobile users by July this year.
While rising incomes are boosting mobile phone demand, low call rates are also attracting more than six million more people across the country to sign up with mobile phone operators each month.
"Out of 185 million mobile phone users in India, 85 million use Nokia phones," the managing director at Nokia's India unit added.
With Nokia focused on the potential of this fast-growing market, India has now become a key hub for the firm and its operations in India have grown substantially since 2004 when it employed just 450 people.
It now employs 9,000 people, and its factory in Chennai has shipped 60 million phones in the 18 months since it opened - with half exported to more than 58 countries.
Worldwide, the firm sold 100.8 million handsets between April and June.
