ONFi 2.0 To Bring 133 MB/s NAND Flash Interface

The Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFi) Working Group is nothing if not troubled with the current speed provided by NAND flash devices and because of this it has announced the ONFi 2.0 specification which is currently at the 0.9 draft.

ONFi 2.0 is aimed at defining a high-speed NAND interface that delivers up to 133 MB/s in interface performance, significantly up from the current maximum of just 50 MB/s. Helping speed up flash USB sticks, solid state drives and more the ONFi will continue to aim high with every version with the third already said to come with a speed of 400 MB/s.

The 0.9 draft of ONFi 2.0 will be available for the general public in Q1 2008.
