Korean memory manufacturer Hynix has started bragging with the first 1Gb GDDR5 DRAM. The new chips are both fresh and fast as they operate at 5Gbps bandwidth and processes up to 20 Gigabytes of data per second with a 32-bit I/O, making it ideal for, of course, next-generation graphic cards.
Built on 66nm, the 1Gb DRAM offers low power consumption and features time delay adjustments, error correction and jitter control technology.
Hynix will start mass producing GDDR5 DRAM in the first half of 2008 while products using them are slated for H2 2008.
