AMD Tri-core Phenoms Coming In February

The Phenom launch may not have been great but AMD is promising bigger, better things for 2008 and one would be the release of triple-core processors. These CPUs are basically your average Agena quad-core part with one core disabled (read dead and gone) and should offer Intel's offer a run for its money. The tri-cored Phenoms codenamed Toliman are said to make their debut in February 2008 most likely after AMD releases the 9700 and 9900 quads.

The release of tri-core CPUs will see AMD have two products available, clocked at 2.5 and 2.3 GHz, each with their very own 89W TDP. Following these two processors, by the end of Q2 2008 AMD will release two dual-core Kuma processors which still don't have a determined clock. As for the competition, Intel will unleash its dual and quad-cored 45nm CPUs as soon as January.
