Google Going For iPhone Killer With Dell

There are rumours that Google is planning to launch a mobile phone in partnership with Dell.

Marketing Week, quoting senior industry sources, claims the two companies will reveal their plans at next month’s 3GSM telecoms conference in Barcelona. Google insiders deny an announcement is that close.

There had had been talk of Google launching a “Gphone”, to go up against Apple’s iPhone, but it was not clear how this would come about. Dell has also been planning a move into mobile phones for some time and already makes PDAs so the rumour makes sense.

Dell Introduces The New Slimmer Inspiron 1525

Dell introduced a new 15.4" notebook today - the Inspiron 1525. This notebook is available with four patterns in addition to the original eight colorful choices and will have a starting price of only $499.

Also noteworthy is the slimmer design, Dell says the Inspiron 1525 is 25% smaller, thinner and almost a half pound lighter than its predecessor.

It appears that Dell is making an attempt to take on the likes of HP and Apple with the release of the XPS 420 —a rig focused on the multimedia enthusiast. Features include: Intel Core 2 Duo or Extreme processors, your choice of ATI or NVIDIA graphics cards, a max of 1TB storage, 1-4 GB of Dual DDR2 SDRAM, a 20-inch LCD monitor, and Xcelerator technology —which makes converting video quick and easy. The XPS 420 also comes bundled with Adobe Systems Elements Studio, which includes Photoshop Elements 6, Premiere Elements 4, and Soundbooth CS3. As you might have guessed the XPS 420 won't come cheap, regardless of the options you choose. Prices range from $1500 to $2,500.
