Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 And Q9550 Priced At $319,$527

The Core 2 Quad Q9450 works at 2.66GHz, has 12MB memory and works with FSB1333MHz. It is packed in socket LGA775 and it will sell for $319. I guess that this one will be very popular as it has the whole 12MB cache and it costs only $49 more than $270 Q9300.

The fastest Core 2 Quad is Q9550 clocked at 2.83GHz with total 12MB of cache, FSB 1333 and LGA775 support. This one will sell for $527 and it will take the place of Q6700 that served for so much time.

The remaining QX9650 and QX9770 are branded as Core 2 Extreme, so we won’t talk much about them apart that QX9650 costs $970 while the QX9770 will cost $1390 and will be the fastest Core 2 Quad socket 775 planned for this release.

After Nforce 780i Its Time For 790i

Just weeks after Nvidia launches its Nforce 780i chipset, the first chipset to officially support Triple SLI, Nvidia will follow up with its DDR3 chipset with Triple SLI support.

The Nforce 790i is on track for a January announcement and this new chipset will bring two unique features, support for 1,600MHz FSB CPUs such as QX9770 and DDR3 memory.

This will make the Nforce 790i a real competitor to Intel's X48 chipset which is scheduled for an announcement at about the same time. DDR3 is still overpriced, but people like the sound of 1,800 MHz DDR3 speeds, but unfortunately this super high speed doesn’t really translates to real world performance figures.

The Nforce 780i should support 1,600MHz FSB CPUs, but you will have to overclock the board as officially the Nforce 780i as well as the X38 chipsets are not suppose to go over 1,333MHz.

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9775 To Cost $1470

On Monday, Intel plans to finally launch many Penryn 45 nanometre cores but only one will be a desktop CPU. The other Harpertown, 45 nanometre based chips will be server only and Intel plans to launch a massive 22 parts next week.

The QX9650 Extreme, which was reviewed, launches on Monday and it will cost a saucy $990, but you can expect a bit steeper end user price.

Intel plans two new cores for Q1 2008, one called QX9775 and second QX9770. The Core 2 Extreme processor branded as QX9770 is 3.2GHz CPU with 12 MB of cache, FSB 1600MHz support and LGA 775. This one will work in desktop X48 boards and it will cost $1370 at launch.

The one with the biggest number QX9775 is also clocked at 3.2GHz and has the same 12MB cache and FSB 1600MHz but it uses LGA771 socket and is reserved for Skulltrail dual socket system only. One of these will cost $1470 and of course two of them, that you need for Skulltrail platform will cost a saucy $3000, only for two CPUs.

Both QX9775 and QX9770 will launch in Q1 while QX9650 launches on the 12th of November.
