Tomb Raider Underworld By The End Of 2008

Fudzilla reports the release date of the next chapter in the long running series of Tomb Raider.A few days ago Eidos announced the release dates for Lara Croft – Tomb Raider Underworld. The game should find its way to the shelves by the end of 2008, around Xmas to be more precise.


The good news is that this time around, besides the expected PC, XboX360 and PS3 versions, Eidos is planning Wii, Nintendo DS and PS2 versions also.

Some Details Of GeForce 9500GT

Tom's hardware Taiwan has managed to score some detailed information about the upcoming GeForce 9500 GT from Nvidia and it doesn't look as promising as its 9600 GT sibling.

The GPU itself seems to be going under the G96-300 name and it's using the P616 refence PCB. The card they looked at had the GPU clocked at 650MHz with the Shaders at 1,650MHz.

The refence cards come with 256MB of 128-bit DDR2 memory and we can understand why Nvidia went down this route, as DDR2 graphics memory is currently selling for less than cost from some manufacturers. The memory is clocked at 900MHz on the refence cards, but this doesn't mean that this is what we'll see on final production models. We'd also expect the memory type to be changed on some higher-end 9500 GT cards.

NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT Reviewed

All game freaks might be eagerly waiting for the upcoming NVIDIA's GeForce 9600GT and so as I.It look's like the GeForce 9600 isn't too far away,as the net have been already flooded with benchmarks.And this time its PCOnline who have some benchmark results and it looks quite impressive.

The GeForce 9600 GT 512MB uses the 65nm G94 GPU and is clocked at 650MHz with 1625MHz shaders and 1800MHz GDDR3 memory. The card has a 256-bit memory bus and has support for DX10, DX10.1 is still only available on ATI's cards.

The results will speak for themselves, but there's no denying that this is looking to be one of the best mid-range cards ever. It beats the competition in just about every test and PCOnline has turned up the resolution quite high in most games.

If this is what we get from NVIDIA then ATI certainly can expect a tough competition ahead for its 3850-series from this card and things could get even more interesting from customer's side when these cards battle it out in the market.

Intel Targets Low-cost Notebook Platform With Shelton'08

According to Digitimes Intel has recently released details of its Shelton'08-based low-cost notebook platform (Basic Platform) to partners and has set the launch schedule for the third quarter this year.

The platform adopts Intel's single-core Diamondville CPU with a core frequency of 1.6GHz, 533MHz FSB and power consumption of 3.5W. The platform's total power consumption is around 8W, translating to battery usage time of between 3-4 hours.

The platform also consist of a 945GSE chipset, which includes built-in DirectX 9 graphics and supports single channel DDR2 memory. A 802.11g Wi-Fi module, USB/PATA port SSD (solid state drive), and a 7- or 8-inch panel will typically round out the platform, noted the sources.

At initial launch, the notebooks will be priced between NT$10,000-16,000 (US$300-500) depending on finial hardware specifications and design. Intel is planning to launch a dual-core version Diamondville CPU in the second or third quarter next year, the sources added.

War Declared Against BitTorrent, P2P

Private BitTorrent tracker Feedthe.Net was recently attacked by a group of hackers claiming to be members of the underground release ‘Scene.’ The group released a text file containing intimate personal details about one of the site’s administrators, Brandon Taylor.

The text file – called an NFO file – was signed by “CELLKiLL,” with a subtitle that describes the group as “Destroying the P2Ps, One Step at a Time.”

According to TorrentFreak, FeedThe.Net is the second such BitTorrent tracker to fall prey to CELLKiLL’s vendetta. Late last year, SuperTorrents and its administrator Ersan suffered grievous security breaches, with the attack culminating in a lengthy NFO describing the site’s security systems as well as the theft of $2,000 from the site’s PayPal account.

The NFO file closed with a warning, stating that there are more attacks yet to come: “We have yet again erased another torrent admin from existence. Other Groups (sic), do your part to make the scene what it was in the beginning. Secure.”
